The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
