1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot vacuum for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models this robot vacuum uk vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum cleaner we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For larger homes it's recommended to choose one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house via the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. Finally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
