The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable, but it will cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner, similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task.
