It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings prior to work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
