The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models can also self-empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba than the competitors' compact models this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum best vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The autonomous vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the amount of dirt they are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to tell the robot vacuums best which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
