The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled as well as large debris and wash them if required. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to, the mopping pad can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the task of cleaning a whole home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.

If you own a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot cleaner with mop mop cleaners we've examined. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuum reviews vacuums that we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
