The best rated robot vacuum robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it clean quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a bare-floored home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time to offer better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic automatic vacuum cleaner/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up with a bit more noise and some additional cost it's a powerful two-in-one that will please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum with mop vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum best vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
