The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot automatic hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair and large particles, and wash them when required. Certain models also automatically empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum cleaner vacuums we've examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to get stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and works when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models, this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost this is a efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dry mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot hoover and mop to clean one particular area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
